In order to pursue objectives stated in Bylaws, AIBEP has entered the initial phase on development of four specific programs:

A. AIBEP Workshop Initiative:

International Symposium on Beamed Energy Propulsion (ISBEP) covers a wide variety of BEP topics.  The nearest next ISBEP which might be held in US will meet in 2011.  In a meantime it might be a good idea to conduct some BEP workshops in US.  The scope of such workshops can be narrowed to specific topics, such as:

-  Optimal Sources for Terrestrial Launches;

-  BEP and Mission to Moon;

-  BEP for Interplanetary and Interstellar Missions,

-  BEP for Aeronautics,

-  BEP for navigation in Microspace (Micronautics*),

-  BEP beyond space launch and transportation;

-  Hybrid BEP Concepts, i.e. workshops in areas overlapping with other propulsion groups: electric, tethers, solar sails, etc.

-   More (?)

at this point the choice of most viable topics for BEP workshops is under discussion.  The topic must be popular enough to assemble 1-2 daylong meeting.  Your opinion will matter:  please, see the results of a mini-survey conducted in the end of June '08:

mini-survey on preferred Workshop topics: ORIGINAL LETTER and RESULTS

________

*"Micronautics" is a new term which I have to come up with in order to describe the navigation in nano-space: another possible field of application for BEP.  My apologies if it sounds too awkward.  Please, see the ORIGINAL LETTER .                A. Pakhomov.

B. BEP Library:

AIBEP has facilities and some initial collection of books, journals, CDs and papers on beamed-energy propulsion.  If you have any materials which you would like to donate to AIBEP, please do!  See Bylaws Objective d) for qualified media.  Donations of considerable retail value are tax deductible. Contact us.

C. Public lectures on BEP:

AIBEP is going to offer series of public lectures designed primarily for campuses of universities with strong emphasis on aerospace science and industry, and especially, advanced propulsion.  We are collecting requests for lectures. Contact us.

D. AIBEP Scholarship Program:

The purpose of AIBEP scholarships is to attract new students of higher education to pursuing  scientific or engineering degrees in the fields pertinent to beamed-energy propulsion.  Contact us
